In chemistry, the term "molar" refers to the concentration of a solute in a solvent expressed in moles of solute per liter of solution. A 1 molar solution contains one mole of solute per liter of solution.

For instance, if 20.0g of NaOH (0.500 mol of NaOH) is dissolved in 1.00L of solution, the resulting solution has a concentration which is 0.500 mol NaOH per liter. That is shortened to 0.500 molar NaOH and abbreviated with a capital "M", as in 0.500M NaOH.

Chun Tung writes, "molarity = moles of solute/ litres of solution. (m= n/V)". Molarity is indeed an expression of the moles of solute per liter of solution, but the notation is not "m=n/V." Molarity is abbreviated with a capital "M." A lower case "m" is the abbreviation for "molality", a different expression of concentration which is given in moles of solute per kilogram of solvent.

The molars or molar teeth are large, flat teeth at the back of the mouth. They are more developed in mammals. They are used primarily to grind food during chewing. The name molar derives from Latin, molaris dens, meaning "millstone tooth", from "mola", millstone and dens, tooth.

also called molarity. a measure of concentration of solute in a solution. (1 mol/L = 1M.)
molarity = moles of solute/ litres of solution. (m= n/V)
