√16 * 2^(1/4) =
4 * 2^(1/4) =
2^2 * 2^(1/4) =

Square root of 16 is 4, which is 2^2. So, 2^2 * 2^1/4 is merely 2^(2+1/4). Taking from there should be relatively easy.

2^a * 2^b = 2^(a + b)

sqrt(16) = 2^4
[sqrt(16)] * 2^1/4 = 2^(4 + 1/4) = 2^(17/4)
