HNO₃ is a strong acid, which completely dissociates to give H₃O⁺.
HNO₃(aq) + H₂O(l) → NO₃⁻(aq) + H₃O⁺(aq)

Molarity of HNO₃ before dissociation = 5.0 × 10⁻⁴ M
[H₃O⁺] in the solution = 5.0 × 10⁻⁴ M

pH = -log[H₃O⁺] = -log(5.0 × 10⁻⁴) = 3.3
