Freaked out by emergency alert system?

So I'm up super late and the emergency alert system went off. It didn't say it was a test and it simply said emergency for the following counties and named my county including nearby others. Usually an announcement is made but flashed and disappeared and just went back to normal programming. Should I be freaked out?

you have failed to mention where in the world you are,
i presume you are in the USA.

Tune in to your local radio station.

You should be. Usually that means aliens are taking over and death is imminent.

TV stations and cable systems do test the emergency alert system late at night. If it was an actual emergency they would announce the nature of the emergency and give instructions.

Well, you can now rest. The world is destroyed by a meteorite which scored a near-miss, but
still knocked Earth out of its orbit. You have been dead for some time. Sorry about all that. It
was good of you to think of writing to Yahoo!Answers. My condolences to your family, but we all
suffered a bit, so don't feel put upon. When your old grandfather said that the world was going to
end badly, he was right, you see? So long.
