Can plantation grow many crops or grow specifically one crop?

I'm writing a story that has a plantation in it and was wondering if plantations typically grow just one crop or can they grow many crops. If they grow many crops, what's the maximum? If there is a specific land area to grow one crop, what is the size of the land?

There's no maximum number of crops. Plantations can grow as many crops as the find profitable.
Traditional plantations also grew produce for use by the people on the plantation (the owners and the workers), such as vegetables, grains, meat animals, fiber plants like cotton or flax, timber, etc.

There is no standard land size for one crop or for a whole plantation, either. It all depends on what the owners and managers think will do best and sell best, in light of how much land they have and what size work force they have available.

A plantation grows whatever makes it money. Sometimes that mostly one crop, and a lot of it, like tobacco, sugar, or coffee.

They can grow as much as they can on the land they have. The more land owned, the more crops they can grow.

A plantation consists of trees mostly and they can last for many decades, so it is unlikely they will need replacing in your lifetime.Of course there are certain plantations such as tobacco or sugar which are replanted yearly.Whether they can be used to grow other crops would depend on the climate and soil conditions.

In order to reply to your inquiry, I think you should know that there are two kinds of farming practice namely specialized and diversified; the former will grow one kind of crop every year; while that of latter several crops. Some times, the rotation of crops will be taken place that means varying the crops grown each year on the same land to avoid exhausting the soil or accumulating toxic substance. In addition, the system of fallow land will allow land to lie fallow in order to give it a break to restore.

We grow Cavass, Coco nuts, Banana on ours. Also Mango for the house, lemon, & limes. For home use & a garden for home use. Potato, cabbage, peppers, beans, & such. But ours is a small place. Also some goes for animal feed. The bigger plantations for coco, coffee, sugar cane, coconuts are usually more1 crop as it takes years for the trees to grow & produce. On other crops like corn. pineapple & such crop rotation is better to use.

A plantation is just a farm.
