I'm a highschool Junior. My goal this sumer is to write a book before January 1st 2017. Anyone have advice on how to start?

Write every day.

Start with an idea. Expand it into a plot. These two things will require an imagination and some "what if" questions. Ask yourself "what if this happened" and see if it moves the plot. After that, you need to start writing. Write the scenes you know and fill in the rest later. The trick is to write even when you don't want to. Most people will say to stop writing if you run out of ideas or get tired but then it becomes months since you last written. Just write.

Have an idea for a story or a nonfiction book. Research. Write an outline. Write the first rough draft. Revise several times. In a general way, it's like writing an essay for school. There are books in the libraries on how to write different kinds of books. No Plot No Problem was written for participants in the National Novel Writing month. Since you have a seven month deadline, you might find it helpful.
