Will this be a good car in the long run?

I just bought a 2013 Toyota Corolla S for around 18k after the fees and intrest. Its almost at 42k miles. Feels good and runs fine, everything works and interior looks nice. Outside there are a few nicks and scratches but I figured that with buying used. Just wondering if anyone has one or had one that knows anything about it in general. How long it ll last, problems it may have, things to watch out for with it, etc. I usually take good care of my cars and I got an extended warranty and bumper to bumper coverage with it just incase, but that only covers the inside items like radio, air, lights, that kind of stuff. I know toyota was said to be a good brand to go with and a lot of people say the cars usually hold up well. Any help would be great! Thanks!

Corollas and Camrys are legendary for long lives when they're well cared for. We drove a Camry that was 18 years old and would be driving it still were it not for rust that let the door panels flap at high speeds. (Which is funny, after the fact.) If you live in a winter climate where roads are salted, wash it more often than we did.

As long as you change the fluids and filters on a regular basis, it should last you well over 100k miles.

First of all you overpaid for the car. dealer price for that year and model is 15500 ( http://www.kbb.com/toyota/corolla/2013/s-special-edition-sedan-4d/?vehicleid=385295&intent=buy-used&mileage=36000&condition=good&pricetype=retail )

second, consult Consumer Report April car issue for reliability of most cars sold in the US.

Sorry you overpaid but you should have asked questions before buying. You are now under water and assuming you borrowed money for the car you will be under water for a long time. You will not be able to trade it in because of the negative equity. You better hope it lasts for years or you just sent a lot of money down the tubes.

Any further questions just ask.

The time to ask all these questions is BEFORE you buy the car. You research the values via www.kbb.com, www.nadaguides.com and even www.clearbook.truecar.com. Then you read the consumer reports on the make and model of the car. Then, because it's a used car, you have it inspected by a Toyota technician...ALL BEFORE BUYING THE CAR.

How long your particular used car will last is anyones' guess. All you can do is be diligent in the maintenance and upkeep of the car. Provided there are no hidden issues in your particular used car and it was not abused during the first 42,0000 miles of it's life, the car should be solid. Stay on top of service and it should last you for miles and miles.
