Wasp spray shoots about 30 feet and drops them pretty quick. Unless you're handicapped, you can handle this on your own. Buy a good spray, wait till dark and spray the heck out of the nest. I always run like hell after I spray but I don't really think it's necessary.

spray WD-40 on the hive
even a little of that hitting the hive will make them leave and fine a new place to live

Get a can of wasp spray, wait until it is dark( sun is down) and they have gone to bed and spray their little asses. Then the next day you can remove their nest.

spray in some chemicals

An oil spray like Shroud said. WD 40 is only one. There are many, such as Liquid Wrench and PB Blaster. Also, not all wasps are predatory bee killers. That's hearsay nonsense. Wasps are important pollinators.

There are a few steps your should take in order to properly remove of the wasps.

Step 1: Take a hose connected to your house, stick the hose in your mailbox then run away before the wasps freak out.

Step 2: Turn the hose of water on then run into your house.

Step 3: Wait about 10 to 30 minutes for the water to properly remove of the wasps. Go see if they're gone.

Step 4: Remove any wasp crap that might be in the mailbox.

Tip: Don't worry about the safety of the wasps. Wasps are *****. They kill good bees. I know a bee keeper who says that wasps are the terror of everything they work for. Wasps EAT little honey bees!!!! Don't give to craps about wasps!

The only way to get rid of them is to spray insecticide or kerosene; otherwise you need to demolish its hive.
Yip

Spray the inside of the mailbox, and then remove all residue of the nest, so they won't come back to it and rebuild.

Wasp spray is good, but it is very toxic so you need to be v. careful. Paraffin aka kerosene will kill wasps too. Just wait until dark when they are all in the nest, pour it in quick and retreat.. They will be dead in the morning.

Mail them

You need to remove them. If you get mail delivery, you can be sure it will be appreciated. DO NOT do anything when it is a hot or warm day. Wait for a cool day of possible and like some suggested attack with them the water hose. If you don't mind using chemicals, choose a wasp killer instead. The water will not kill them but will sure cool them down and wash them away. But if they still come after you that is NOT good. If I=the nest isn't large, not much chemical will be needed. Once they are all dead remove every trace of the nest and clean it. You could give another spray into it especially on the walls, just a small amount, which will discourage any others from nesting there. Doing this should solve the problem.
