Ya you should, recently I watched Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens and I really enjoyed the first 1/2 of the film. Good story, new characters, new droid, new sabers and storm trooper weapons, paced and told very well...all very interesting and cool.

Watch Star Wars Episode 3, that one's not too bad, its pretty intense and it does dive right into how Darth Vader became Darth Vader

If you like Star Wars generally and have seen Episodes 4-6 then yes definitely see them. I thought they were disappointing (Ep. 2 in particular), but they weren't as bad as some people try to make out. The Phantom Menace suffered from being a bit childish at times, but some of the action sequences were excellent and Darth Maul was great. I think there was a bit too much CGI in the films which gave them a rather artificial look at times I felt. Some of the dialogue and scenes involving people talking and interacting with each other were a but wooden but Lucas never has been able to direct people well. His strength lies in the action sequences and the creation of believable, other worlds. But like I say, if you generally like Star Wars then you should definitely watch them.

You can if you really want to see them. They're worth seeing once, just to see the events that lead up to Anakin Skywalker becoming Darth Vader. If you do watch them, be prepared for scenes that involve walking and talking, standing and talking, and sitting and talking. I other words characters talking in exposition. There are some good action scenes, but it takes forever to get to them.

Yes you should, they do after all set up the events of the original trilogy. Regardless of what others think of the movies, I'd recommend just watching them yourself and forming your own opinion.
