Birthday without my father?

I have always been close to both my parents. A few months ago my father was convicted and imprisoned for a non-violent, non-sexual offence. This will be the first time I'll be celebrating my birthday without my father. I feel so lonely. Why has the law punished me for what someone else has done? Did they think about that before they locked him up? How can I enjoy it without him there? It just won't be the same.

maybe you can still visit him on your birthday in jail, also, if youre lucky he might get out earlier for good behavior

Maybe your father shouldn't have committed the crime.

Sorry for what you are going through. Would it be possible to go visit him at prison for your birthday? Also, you could do something in his absence that you can share with him later (like get a gift you know he will enjoy also when he is out).
