I'm 16 years old and I'm obsessed with creepy and scary movies. I decided to look up the most disturbing movies ever last night and RFAD was in every single list. I really want to watch it, but everyone says that it f**** you up and that they can only watch it once and it leaves them depressed. I know everything that happens because I looked it up and it doesn't sound as bad as everyone says. Yes it sounds depressing and disturbing, but everyone is making a huge deal of how it will make you think about it for a long time. I'm 16 years old and my mom said she saw it long ago and I asked if I could watch it and she made a face and said she doesn't want me seeing nudity. Is it really bad? I want to watch it by myself in my room in case I cry because I hate when people see me cry. If my mom is okay with it, should I watch it? Thanks!
What you see and what you allow into your life affects who you are. Most people want to be happy and have a peaceful life. This stuff is bad. It affects you and changes you. Be careful what you choose to allow into your life. Seriously
Its pretty harsh. Especially if you or someone you know is involved with drugs. I had loved ones that were involved with them and I bawled my eyes out because of it.
These days, one of them is clean and sober 3 years now and the other?. . . They found his remains out on the navajo reservation. Still unsolved.
It's just depressing as hell.I'll never watch it again.
It's not the most disturbing, I can think of a dozen that are so disturbing, I wouldn't even touch them (A Serbian Film, Salo, Nekromantik, etc, pure underground garbage). Those lists usually just include more well known films, and ignore a ton of obscure movies many haven't heard of (Slaughtered Vomit Dolls, Guinea Pig series, Gummo, Pink Flamingo, etc). So when it comes to mainstream movies, yeah it's pretty disturbing, but still not the worst.
It IS the most emotional and depressing I've ever seen. It's pretty bad, makes me tear up every time, even when I just hear the theme song. Nudity is only in one scene at the end from what I can remember. It's highly impressionable. Yeah you could see it, you are probably old enough, but are you mature enough? It's not a happy movie.
Far from it, if you want disturbing then try these:
Guinea Pig Movies
American Guinea Pig
Philosophy of a Knife
Red Room 1+2
Vomit Gore Trilogy
Black Metal Veins
A Serbian Film
Salo
Aftermath
Snuff Tape Anthology
August Underground Trilogy
Cannibal Holocaust
Canniabl Ferox
I thought it was a good movie. However, i think i saw the rated R verson, not the unrated director's cut. I do not consider it a depressing movie. I think the purpose of the movie is to get people to understand the seriousness of drug use.
Watch it. The story is basically shows a worst case scenario for everyone involved. Nobody wins, but I won't give away specifics. There is enough disturbing stuff that something will probably get under your skin, but there is a lot of food for thought there too.
I think different people take different things from the movie.
I think the writer, Darren Aronofsky, did a good job showing how very different people have very different yet very similar problems.
None of the story arcs involve people your age, so I'm not sure what you'll take from the movie. I was 27 when I saw it and could relate to all the characters for my own reasons. Hopefully, you'll be able to do the same.
I don't think you'll walk away scarred for life or anything. Don't let what others say allow too much anticipation to build up because you may let down if it doesn't live up to your expectations.
Just take it as a movie that you heard has some disturbing content and if your blown away by it, great. If not, oh well.
參考: I didn't address your question about nudity. There are two versions of the film, an R rated and an unrated version. They unrated version is more graphic than the r rated, but I doubt your mother would approve of either. You may not want to do watch it with her present.
after all that hype, you may feel like it s not that bad.
i did find the movie to be depressing and dark, and it s not for the faint of heart. the part with the older woman was what made me cry. BUT, personally, i think teenagers should watch it. i don t think efforts to scare people straight always work, but it is very effective in showing the bad path that drug addicts often follow.
not really a fan of only watching "happy" movies. depressing and dark movies can serve an important role in a person's life too.
