a chemistry teacher does a demo involving H2 filled balloons. The balloon is filled to a volume of 3.25 L at a temperature of 18 degrees Celsius and a pressure of 940 mm Hg. How many grams of H2 were required to fill the balloon?

Pressure, P = 940/760 atm
Volume, V = 3.25 L
Number of moles n = ? mol
Gas constant, R = 0.0821 atm L / (mol K)
Absolute temperature, T = (273 + 18) K = 291 K
Molar mass, M = 1.008 × 2 g/mol = 2.016 g/mol
Mass, m = ? g

PV = nRT
PV = (m/M)RT
m = PVM/(RT)

Mass of hydrogen required, m
= (940/760) × 3.25 × 2.016 / (0.0821 × 291)
= 0.339 g
