Can you ride a bicycle? Can you drive a manual shift car? If not yes/yes I wouldn't try it.
I jumped on my first bike and rode it home. But it was a 200cc 2-stroke, so relatively small and light. The fact is, you learn to ride by riding. Slowly and carefully at first, faster and smoother as you gain experience and confidence. Control of a motorcycle is a series of muscle memories, you learn by doing.
Yes, there's a very good chance that you will crash. Have someone show you how to ride.
Keep in mind that if you don't have a motorcycle license, your friend's insurance won't pay for the wreck.
Hi Dustin, the odds of that happening are about the same as your first bicycle ride without training wheels. Good luck and have a nice day.
Maybe - not everyone crashes the first time they try it though
Be a bit, but still have faith, believe yourself is possible, in addition to safety, don't ride too far away for the first time.
It's no different than doing anything else you don't know how to do, other than it can kill you. Yes, the odds are against you, and you will more than likely hurt yourself.
You can find a local Motorcycle training school... if you don't see any, contact local dealers and ask about MSF courses. They aren't free, but the $200 or so for the basic new rider course is much cheaper than the ambulance ride.
