I need an oily type substance i can injest a couple times a day with no problems.?

Most oils are very fatty, you dont take mineral oil everyday, and I dont know any others.
I need an oily substance that is safe to injest a few teaspoons a day to coat my throat for a short time when it hurts. I dont want it to have a ton of fat calories.

Suggestions?

Or sugar calories srry. Honey works but adds up.

You don't use oil to coat your throat. Your throat is covered in mucous, which is water-based. Oils will just slide down the throat into the stomach. If you have throat problems, talk to a doctor. If you need occasional relief, try a lozenge. My favorite lozenges are Thayer's. They contain slippery elm, an herb that stimulates mucous production. IMO, these are a lot more effective at helping mild sore throats than traditional menthol lozenges.

All oils are fatty. That is what oil is. Fat. And all edible fats and oils have calories, the same amount of calories. There is no reason why having a few teaspoons a day of any edible fat should be a problem in any way. We need some fats in our diets. Eating no fat will lead to problems sooner than having too much fat.

I sometimes get a sore throat from my GERTs. A teaspoon of honey works pretty good. Honey is well known for its healing and antiseptic properties.
