a few著重肯定的意味，few著重否定的意味：He has few books.＝他沒有什麼書。＝He has hardly any books.
He has a few books.＝他有幾本書。

所以兩句都正確，但意思不同：
There are a few apples on the table.=桌上有幾個蘋果。
There are few apples on the table.=桌上沒幾個蘋果。（嫌數量太少）
