V₁ = M₂V₂/M₁
Volume of 14.0 M HBr used, V₁ = 5.3 × 500.0 / 14.0 mL = 189.3 mL

Steps she should do :
Use a burette to add 189.3 mL of 14.0 M HBr to a 500.0 mL volumetric flask. Then, add distill water to the volumetric flask to the mark. Mix well the solution.

14 x V1 = 5.3 x 0.500 solve for V1
