Equation for the decomposition of potassium chlorate :
2KClO₃(s) → 2KCl(s) + 3O₂(g)

According to the equation, the decomposition of 2 moles of KClO₃ gives 3 moles of O₂.

Number of moles of O₂ produced from the decomposition of 3.6 moles of KClO₃
= (3.6 mol) × (3/2)
= 5.4 mol
