Should I cut my hair short to chin length bob or keep trimming my hair for longer hair in the future?

I've planned to grow my hair long since 2014 and my hair is at bra strap length. I also have coarse curly hair (notoriously hard to grow) I've had short hairstyles before, plus my mother's side of the family has slow hair growth. Been growing my hair for two years. The reason why I've planned to grow my hair to mid length to waist length hair because I wanted to sport a long ponytail. Last time I got a trim was in February. I'm also used to me having some long hair down to my bra straps.

Personally I like guys with shorter hair. I don't mind it becoming a little long like 3-4 in . (maybe a little longer) as very long as it's styled in a good way.
