In aquoeus solutions, acids and bases dissociate to give mobile ions. The aqueous solutions can conduct electricity by mobile ions.

For example, hydrochloric acid dissociates in aqueous solution to give mobile hydrogen ions (or hydronium ions) and chloride ions, and sodium hydroxide dissociates in aqueous solutoon to give mobile sodium ions and hydroxide ions.
