How can I get the family cat to like me?

IT's me, grandma, my granddad, my mom and uncle. The cat may gravitate to my grandma but really gravitates to my uncle. Like my uncle lives in the basement and the cat will wait down there or stay down thier all day long until he comes back from whatever he does. I like to see the cat around the house or on my flor of the house more and wanted to know how can I get the cat to gravitate to me more or wanna hang around other members of the house more. Bring the balance back to like when he was brand new to everybody. I have a turtle and is not exciting. So I thought I get something to gravitate to me. I be playing with him or trying to and he just always wants to be put down and goes downstairs to that blasted basement. Cat alway come in my room but when I approach he hide. IT's really hard for me to tell if he play or not cause he straight wrestle and bite the ish outta my arm

You should be the one to feed him. And feed him in a family area, or maybe in your room.

maybe try giving him cat treats? or you feeding him instead of who usually feeds him? when you have an older cat and you get a new one, its good to introduce them through feeding them (with a screen/gate between them to prevent any casualties, of course). then, the old cat will associate the new cat with food (which is good), and vice versa for the new one. i dont see why this method wouldnt work with a human and a cat as well.
other good ideas are crouching down and holding out your hand and trying to call him over to you instead of approaching him. if he comes over, let him sniff your hand and DONT GRAB HIM (very important!). if he wants to just walk away afterwards, let him. also, do not try to force the cat to play with you. you might also try not to pick him up, since he seems to not like that. many cats can be very independent, so befriending them usually turns into letting them come to you on their own terms instead of something more direct (like youve been doing, it sounds like).
