Was it a date?

So this guy invited me to a wedding, he picked me up, said that I looked nice and opened the car door for me whenever I got in or out of the car. When we got to the reception we sat on our own in the bar for a bit just chatting (he even payed for my drinks) and we talked for ages, mostly about deep things, but also about his sex life :/
We then went dancing for a bit, and he didn't kiss me or anything, but I just wanted to check if it was a date because I've been on dates before and not realised it
