y = x² + 4x + 10
...add and subtract [x]²/4. Here [x] = 4, so [x]²/4 = 4
y = x² + 4x + 4 - 4 + 10
...first three terms complete a square (x + [x]/2)², and simplify/combine the remaining two terms
y = (x + 2)² + 6

y=(x+2)²+6

y = x^2 + 4x + 10
y = (x + 2)^2 + 6

Complete the square.
Y = x^2 + 4x + 2^2 - 2^2 + 10
Y = (x+2)^2 + 6

Could it be that you mean :-
y = x² + 4x + 10
y = [ x² + 4x + 4 ] - 4 + 10
y = [ x + 2 ]² + 6

Complete the square.
The coefficient of x is 4.
4/2 = 2; 2² = 4

y = x² + 4x + 10 = x² + 4x + 4 + 6
y = (x+2)² + 6

h=-2, k=6

// teach a man to fish ...

y=x^2+4x+10 = x^2+4x+4 + 6
y = (x+2)^2 + 6
h=-2, k=6

y= x² + 4x + 10
=x²+4x+4+6
=(x+2)²+6
