I want to title my project The race to woman's rights, and draw a picture of a girl running with Nellie McClung's head, because shes racing for woman's rights, get it?
Is that a good or dumb idea?

Well, as part of your research, I would recommend finding out why the ERA Amendment in the 1970's didn't pass. It was derailed, at least in part, by some womens' groups. They saw that women were initially treated as if they were delicate little things that needed protection in a man's world. They saw that women were successfully shaking off that image starting in the 1960's and progress was still being made. They felt that the ERA would then say that they needed special protections, as if they were still those delicate little things, so they could make it in a man's world. They felt equality was found in equal opportunity, not special treatment. What's more telling that women can compete with men, a starting line (figuratively speaking) with men and women there or a starting line for men and a starting line for women a number of yards ahead?

As for "rights", what rights are you speaking of that they are not getting? For example, one "right" that has been bandied about for the last few years if how women don't seem to get equal pay. People like Hillary Clinton like to imply that this is due to some bias in the work place. However, the reason why there is a 77% discrepancy in pay is due to women making different career choices than men. They don't take the jobs nor work the hours that take them away from family in general. Young single womens' income is on parity with young men.

I just wanted to make sure you have a well-rounded perspective of the subject so you can write it from an informed stance.

I doubt many people would be able to recognise Nellie McClung, I had never even heard of her. So all the vast majority of people would see is a woman running with another woman's decapitated head.

It does not suggest women's rights to me. Maybe a woman running carrying an emblem of woman's rights or one that stands for equality would work better.

I don't get it.
