Why do many people consider Prince a great musician even though his music is very easy to play?
Don t get me wrong, Prince seems like a nice guy who had a very unique sound. However, nothing he wrote was difficult to play on any of the instruments he played. For example, his guitar playing was very basic.

You must be 13 to not realize how much Prince has impacted music
Being a great musician is not about how technically proficient you are.
In other words, being a great musician is not playing the right notes - being a great musician is knowing the right notes to play.
constant chart toppers, longevity, the ability to stay relevant and the ability to have such an influence over tons of other music artists is what makes a great musician. the fact that his music is/was so easy to play means nothing at all
Actually he was a well respected guitarist. Also, I'm sure Hank Williams' music is easy to play but just playing it doesn't make one Hank Williams.
And yet another kid that doesn't know jackshit about music. You see this is what happens in the generation of telling kids how great they are, they turn into arrogant dumbass teenagers.
He was a very talented artist being a muscian is not about how easy it is its about the right way to play it he played the piano and the guitar beautifully
I'm 58, same age as Prince. His music made me cringe, but I realize many loved it. I just couldn't get into it, and his voice, no. However, his style and open sexuality became a movement of sorts. Prince was an artist, but I think it had to do with style as much as his music, maybe even more. In my opinion, he was no Michael Jackson. MJ had it all, style, voice, music, performer, dancer, total package. Prince's success is beyond me. Still a shame to lose him so young. That is the one thing Michael and Prince had in common, sad to say.
