I've always wanted a motorcycle and if I got one I would wear all the gear all the time; however, I'm worried how badly I'll be injured if I got into a wreck.
So how much would the gear protect me if I got into a non lethal wreck?

If you hit something head-on at 100mph, you are dead regardless.
If you fall off at low speed, you will be in a _much_ better state if the road surface never contacts skin...

That is impossible to say 100% it will all depend on the circumstances of the crash. No safety equipment no matter what it's for can protect you 100%.
