how hard is it to learn how to play the piano?

A guitar is really different to a piano, it takes a lot of time to actually get the hang of it. But you can start to play really short (about half a page?) in about 2 months like nursery rhymes, simplified music although it kind of depends on natural talent... I don't have any musical talent so it took me about 2 months to get the hang of it

if you are musical i would suggest learn by your self but have people who are better than you give you some tips .......if you dont play any other instruments and are not that musical lesson would help you and how much effort you put in will decide how fast you learn stuff.... the teacher will move as fast as you can handle..... so with a lot of practice i believe you could learn a whole song soon ......
at least thats my experiance.......(i am very musical and play 7 different instrumesnt and that is how i went about it)

not that difficult, not to me anyways, but give yourself at least a year to get a kind of solid understanding of the instrument, i've been playing for nearly a decade and it still takes me a couple months or more to get a song finished and sounding perfect. i wouldn't try to rush that or you won't get a solid base education of piano just a rote memorization of the pattern of whatever song you want to play.

be smarter

no..it takes 10 years of intense playing to be good at piano..if you are lucky.
if you have to ask if it's hard. quit now, because you have no chance at being any good at music.
True "musicians" don't even think about "is it hard to learn" they do it no matter how hard it is and love to do it.
