Why did the sexual health clinic give me a blood test for STIs but my partner didn't have one?

I said I'd been having itching down there so she checked me and did a blood test... My boyfriend flipped out when he found out because he was told in his appointment that they only do blood tests on people who have had multiple partners, and my boyfriend was my first, and he now thinks he's not. What could be the reason why the doctor did a blood test on me?

They usually do so just to check to see if you might be infected with anything. They don't only do them on people with multiple partners because they cant verify the facts. They want to make sure they're diagnosing you with the correct disease if you have one.

WTF? Neither of you have had another partner, yet you think you could have a sexually transmitted disease? I guess his doctor trusted his answers and your doctor didn't trust yours? Or you had some sort of symptoms and he didn't?
