Is cat kneading on your bed covers sanitary?

Our two Ocicats are in bed with us every night, and often nap there at other times. We never have had problems. We do scoop their litter box daily, and they are very clean kitties.

My cat sleeps wherever. Sometimes she sleeps on the end of the bed, sometimes I wake up with her on my chest, sometimes she lies under the covers with me. The worst bit is the licking. I have to keep as much skin covered up as possible, otherwise I get licked and it is painful. I haven t caught anything from her in the 10 years she has slept in/on my bed.

As long as you clean the litter box every day, and you wash your sheets like you are supposed to, its just fine. The dirt you see is a buildup of skin oils most of the time anyway, its not dirty its just skin.
