though Im not aware of any large scale civil unrest in Australia as occurs overseas with the possible exception of the recent anti Islam crowd and some remote community issues where the equipment wouldnt be able to be deployed anyway

We don't usually have riots. Last occasion it was just constables with truncheons, you, know, like 10 inch long night-sticks? But it did the job.

But probably the cops have got the usual stuff.
