There is no way to answer your question effectively. What may be comfortable to me might be excruciating to someone else. You need to get out of the house, and actually try them yourself. Otherwise, you are wasting time & money.

Most people prefer the around the ear type headphones, however they can be a bit large. The key is to find headphones that rest on or around the era and have soft ear pads. This is where shopping in the store is really a good idea when possible. If not, read reviews and pay attention to comments about comfort.

Choose from any of the following REPUTABLE manufacturers: Sennheiser, Shure, Grado, Denon, AKG, Bowers & Wilkins, Bang & Olufsen, Etymotic, Beyerdynamic, Audio-Technica. Also, try to find a store that has a test-listening booth.
