Infected ear piercing?

I got my cartilage (helix) and my tragus pierced on this passed sunday. I have cleaned the piercings twice a day without fail. Last night I went swimming but I tried to keep my ear as dry as possible. I rinsed off right away as soon as I got out of the pool and I tried to wash warm water over the piercings. I took a shower that night and used Provon to clean both piercings. My cartilage and tragus stung last night but this morning the jewelry in my cartilage was pushed forward. I don't know why this is happening. I tried to gently push back the jewelry, but it was hurting so I'm leaving it alone. The jewelry that I have in my cartilage is a straight bar with two balls on either end.

With your profuse cleaning, it's probably not infected, maybe just a little irritated. The saline in pool water dries out skin and could've possibly irritated your new piercing. I really wouldn't worry about it too much unless it starts to leak yellow fluid (puss), but clear fluid is fine - it means it's healing. The way you're describing it I think the piercing you have is called an industrial bar. It's very normal for it to hurt and the skin to stick out a bit. Well maybe not healthy, but I know many people whose cartilage piercings have turned out like that. I would say it's probably fine, and it's normal for it to hurt. The healing time for a cartilage piercing is several months so expect it to feel a little uncomfortable. Good luck!
