Guinea pig noises?

Are guinea pig purrs good or bad? People are telling me yea he likes where your petting him and others tell me no it means he s annoyed. Im confused because i cant get a concrete answer. And i dont want to keep annoying him if it is.

Purr maybe it has a roommate, they contacted on each other but that's normal.
