請問英文延遲出貨的用法，以下哪種叫正確？ (1)There may be a slight delay in the delivery of the machines. (2)There may be a slight delay to deliver the machines.?

兩句好像都不對，因為there is/are是用來表示「存在」的狀況，後面的主詞通常為不特定之物或人。delay是一個狀況（a delay of two hours；after several delays），不是物，也不是人。我們不能用there is/are來表示你要的情境。商業英文給資訊時應精準，不宜用a slight delay，因為slight是不精準的形容詞，可能造成誤會，讓客戶跳腳，以為你不重視他們的利益，因為 a slight problem = 微不足道的問題。

在慢交貨時，你應該給一個確定的交貨時程，對方才能調整後續的計畫，不要像台灣的機場捷運線那樣遙遙無期。可以考慮下面的寫法：
We regret to advise that the machines you ordered won't be ready for shipment until May 31, 2016. The situation is totally unexpected. We hope the delay won't cause you too much problem....

都錯．你對＂deliver/delivery＂這字的認識錯誤．應該用"ship.shipment"

說你錯,還不聽？Deliver/delivery通常是用在“運輸”過程的延誤.這是因爲“delivery"是“送達”的意思！你的連出貨都還沒出貨,還說神deliver?

應該 醬子說：

There might be a slight delay in the shipment of your order due to the overwhelming popularity of the machines. The EToS (estimated time of shipment) is now December 45th, 2016.說：

我不是說”delay in delivery"不能使用.而是不應該用在你說的情境.

There will be a 2 day delay in regular delivery due to Typhoon Hugo.

(1)delivery n, eg:-We regret the delayed delivery (n) of (goods=machines).

(2)deliver vt, eg:-Did we delay deliver our( goods=machines) to your Co. ?

(1) We always say : a delay in [ ... taking a certain action ]
∴ "There may be a slight delay in the delivery of the machines." -- CORRECT !

(2) "There may be a slight delay to deliver the machines." -- grammatically wrong.
