then it's
8x = 10
x = 5/4.

8x = 10
x = 5/4

26x-18x=10
8x=10
x=10/8
x=5/4

26x=18x+10
8x=10
4x=5
x=5/4=1.25

You want to have all of the x's on one side of the equation and all regular numbers on the other side, so subtract 18x from both sides.

26x = 18x + 10
26x - 18x = 10

and then do 26x - 18x = 8x

8x = 10

divide both sides by 8

x = 10/8

x = 5/4

x=4
