How much anesthesia is given to an average person? I know it's measured by weight, gender, age, blood pressure, medications taken etc and how is it measured? Grams? cc's?

IV drugs are given roughly by mgs per Kg. Since the drugs are in a standard concentration in a liquid such as 10 mg per ml, the actual amount is pushed in by the ml. MILLILITERS is the more preferred term over CC's. If someone writes sloppy, the "CC" could look like "00" and a 100 times greater dose could be given. When a gas anesthetic is used, it is given by percentage of inspired volume. Depending on the gas, it can be anywhere from 1% to 60%. No one drug does it all. 1-2 mg Versed is often used before surgery to calm you down, 150-200 mg Propofol to put you to sleep, 50 micrograms per Kg of Fentanyl as a narcotic, then the gas. You usually get 5-10 different drugs.

It depends on the factors you mention but also how long the operation is likely to be.
