its the cycle that the ECM will develop while driving it The ECM has to learn your driving habits to put it in layman's terms

Get a cheap code reader and just drive the car for a while. The reader will tell you when the car is ready.

Drive for 20 minutes some where you can go at least 45 mph with out touching the brake pedal. Most States allow one or two readiness tests that are not completed so if it's just the catalyst not ready you may still be good to pass.

telling us the year, make, model, and engine would be a good start--esp since every year, make, model, engine is different when it comes to drive cycles.

you are talking about the fact that you changed the battery or something else on the car, and its showing up as "not completed cycle" for the computer...i had this same problem with my 02 Camry and i "rented" an OBD II reader that could read that, then i just googled "how to complete drive cycle on (your car and engine)". It involves an almost bizarre course of driving while not exceeding thus and such speed and not touching the brakes and repeating it a few times till the OBD reader is happy with what you;ve done. I made a post on what i did to fix the problem i found the procedure online somewhere. It may or may not work for you since the engine is different, but at least you will know what to goodle.

The cat itself will become ready in about 20 minutes, the entire drive cycle may be 2 days and about 50 miles.

Put it this way. I would be shocked if it didn't complete a full drive cycle if you drove through the usual urban sprawl, then operated the vehicle on the highway (e.g. more or less constant 60mph+ speeds) for at least an hour.

I'm basically throwing a random guess in the dark, estimating on the conservative side. I don't even give enough of a **** to read every single answer hoping to find your comment about the specific model, then spend more time searching the drive cycle of your particular vehicle. I would much rather exert the same effort searching for pornography. Do you know what I mean?
