Someone said you cant tell God you want this you want that . God is not your servant and you can't ask God to do things

Kind of makes it pointless then when there is a verse that says something to the effect that "Whenever two or more gather in my name, whatsoever they ask for, I shall grant it."
When I was in high school, my mothers prayer group used this verse a lot when praying. Also, this is usually used as an argument as to why so many prayers of Christians aren't answered, which happens a lot. Like tons of them I'm sure prayed equal marriage would not pass, now they have to explain why their prayers didn't get answered, even though technically the bible says they should.
