iPhone 6s help?
I've had my iPhone 6s for about one month now I am still learning how to work it after having a galaxy for two years . How does iMessage and data work together ? I don't have unlimited data ( I have roll over data from AT&T but share with my mom and dad ) but I was told from my friend that if you have no apps running in the background your data isn't being used and you can still use iMessage is that true ? Another thing is that when my phone is locked & someone inboxes me it doesn't show what they say sometimes , I've went into setting and to the notification but it doesn't work, help

You need to perform a hard reset and if problem persists, take it to the technical support of apple and In case you need some security program, install LEO Privacy
iMessage sends messages over the internet [rather than using the SMS message protocol that's part of the basic mobile phone network].
It will use whatever internet connection is available - WiFi or mobile data, rather than using any message allowance from your phone service provider.
The data usage per message would be tiny, far less than looking at a single, simple, web page.
If you have "notifications" enabled, any new sms/imessage arriving should give you an instant alert.
Emails are different, the phone has to check for new ones every so often - usually every half hour, or something like that. You will only get new messages or alerts when it checks and finds something new.
You can change the interval, but it will affect both battery use and data/internet use.
