It won't hurt her but it's totally useless. Ideally you will get her to the vet today, as she needs an exam, to be started on vaccines, and treated for the worms that fleas cause. If you cannot get her in today (and it's really, really important that you do soon) then you need a safe and proper flea treatment for her today. The only one you can get over the counter that is both safe and effective is Advantage for kittens. It comes in a pack of three - you will need to put it on her for three months straight anyway. Be sure to get the one for kittens, and do not get any cheaper brand! They contain ingredients that cause seizures and death in cats and are especially lethal to kittens. This includes flea baths, collars, flea powder. The money you save on this will be quickly eaten up by a trip to the emergency vet for flea product poisoning. Same thing with wormers - get one from the vet that actually will work and won't make her sick.

Call the vet today and get her seen as soon as possible. You can schedule her spay too while you are there :) But enjoy, they do not stay babies long.
