Could I have HSV1 genitally?

I was diagnosed in Nov of with HSV1 after a cold sore came up on my lip. My boyfriend has herpes whitlow so I know the herpes virus is in his body. However I don't know if its HSV2 or HSV1 thats the cause of his herpes. 3 nights ago he gave me oral. I didn't notice until the next day what looked like a cold sore coming on his lip. What are the chances of me catching it genitally if there was actually a cold sore? thanks! I have a Dr. Apt but its next month....I will worry myself to death by then.

HSV1 typically causes herpes whitlow, not HSV2.If he didn t have a cold sore at the time he gave you oral sex then your chances of having HSV1 genitally are very low.
If there was a visible cold sore on his mouth while he gave you oral sex, then your chances of getting it genitally are very high.
Cold sores are more likely to be passed on while there s any signs or symptoms of a cold sore. When some one is in between break outs you re less likely to get it.

Yes, you can get HSV one in the genital area, if he had an outbreak and you had oral sex. HSV 1 behaves just like type 2.

I read somewhere that it was less likely to relocate to another position on your body if the virus is already living inside of you.
