I need help on a math problem. Please tell me answer and explain?
The streets of town b run like a grid, so it's map is drawn like a coordinate plane, with one mile being one unit in x- and y- axis. The post office is at (5,7) and Kevin's home is at (9,4). If Kevin walks at 4 miles/hour, how long does it take for Kevin to walk from home to the post office?
回答 (2)
Distance between Kevin's home and the post office
= √[(5 - 9)² + (7 - 4)²] miles
= √25 miles
= 5 miles
Time taken for Kevin to walk from home to the post office
= 5 / 4 hours
= 1.25 hours
t=d/v, d=((dx)^2+(dy)^2)^(1/2)
t=(1/4)((5-9)^2+(7-4)^2)^(1/2)
t=(1/4)(16+9)^(1/2)
t=(1/4)√25
t=5/4
t=1.25h
