Bleaching something that says only non chlorine bleach?

I have a large bedspread that is pale purple and white striped and it is starting to look very dingy and not like it's original color. The instructions say to only use non chlorine bleach, but will it be fine if i use bleach that doesn't say non chlorine? I have bleached things before that say don't bleach and they were fine, so I was just wondering if it would be fine in this situation as well. Thanks!

Use a color safe bleach. All it takes is reading the labels in the laundry section of the store you are in. They come in both powder and liquid.

You could do a spot check on the purple stripe to see if the chlorine bleach fades it. You could end up with an all white one. Depending on the fiber content using chlorine bleach can weaken the threads and cause it to fall apart. If you go ahead, use a minimal wig bleach, cool water and a short gentle cycle

Well thats a chance you will be taking. Would be easier to get non chlorine bleach and use the correct stuff.
