Do the babies think it's good or something?

Commercial puree baby food became "tradition" in the 1900's when commercials told mothers baby needed bland mush. We are now generations of women who pass down that tradition and myth that baby needs bland, runny puree.

Really, the first foods do need to be plain. By around 7-8 months babies can self feed soft pieces of table food. And some babies do tolerate spices.
I started fork mash of a sweet potato or avocado. I also had a soft mash of dark meat chicken as a first food. All my boys were always putting stuff in their mouths by 6 months old, so they could handle trying to self feed very soft foods cut like a French fry at that age.

Babies eat it because they've never tasted anything else. It's a starter food so can learn how to eat. Plus your tastes change as you get older. Lots of things I ate as a kid I wouldn't like today, like saltines with kraft singles (yuck). And lots of things I like today I thought was yucky as a kid.

Btw, you didn't really need to eat baby food when you had your tonsils out. You could have had some soups (non-chunky ones), broth, yogurt, pudding, jello, applesauce, ice cream, mashed bananas, nutritional shakes, etc.

Do you know how mothers feed their babies thousands of years ago in the stone age and earlier. They chewed up the food for them.

I didn't, I just mashed up the same foods we were eating.
