Why so many bands like Seether and Puddle of Mudd try so hard to sound and be like Nirvana?

because they are "post-grunge"

They dont. They sound completely different. And Nirvana also had influence on a lot of bands.

They sound nothing like Nirvana, they are both generic rock.
