If the front end is out of alignment, you need to get it done right away or the new tires will wear unevenly.
Forever if your wheels aren't out of alignment. If you haven't a lot of curbs, HARD, you are probably OK. If the wheels are out of alignment you will see tire wear that will tell you what is wrong. It's more common to have your struts or ball joints go than actually lose alignment .
Needing an alignment is based on having a misalignment. When your old tires were removed, especially your front tires, were they worn unevenly? Especially if an inside edge or outside edge wore excessively. If yes, get an alignment soon. If your tires came off the car worn evenly, then you don't need an alignment.

It is cheaper to get it all done at the same time.
You don't "have" to do anything but bad alignment will ruin new tires in a few days. get it done at the same time as you lay out good money for new tires.
It's best to have the alignment done right away by the tire place so if there is any wear they have to replace the tires.

if the tires you took off were wearing evenly you do not need an alignment, if your old tires were wearing unevenly , ie wearing more on the inside or outside you will need an alignment ASAP to prevent uneven wear from happening again

Why not get it done at the same time?? It would be a lot more convenient and wouldn't cost any more
