x/3 + x/4 = 1=> x = 12/7
So, together it will take 12/7 hrs to paint the shed.

Let n hours be the time taken for them together to paint the shed.
In 1 hour, Mario paint 1/3 of the shed, Tong paint 1/4 of the shed, and they together paint 1/n of the shed.
1/n = (1/3) + (1/4)
1/n = (4/12) + (3/12)
1/n = 7/12
n = 12/7
n = 1 and 5/7
They will take (1 and 5/7) hours to paint the shed.
