Reducing sugar, such as glucose, is a natural reducing agent to reduce silver from (ammoniacal) silver nitrate soluton.
Table salt cannot reduce silver nitrate solution, but only a white precipitate of silver chloride is formed.

I'd use table salt. Silver chloride will precipitate and is easily filtered out.
