Community college out of state?

So I am currently a Junior in high school in Va and I want to move to Fl for college considering the price and my grades not being in the best shape (currently standing at a 2.5 GPA) I was thinking about going to Santa Fe community college for 2 years then transferring to university of Florida is this a bad a idea
My girlfriend currently lives in Gainesville so I won't be alone but I'm scared I'll be excluded in the college town for going to community although I'll be looking to be living with a roommate in an apartment near UF
Also by the time im done at SFC after those 2 years I'll be legible for in state tuition at UF but it's a big decision I need to think over about I really don't want to live here in va anymore or live under my parents strict rules, and I want to be near my girlfriend and Uf is a great school and I want to Persue my business major there
Do you think this is a bad decision or should I think over other possible options? How should I talk to my parents about this

Working your life around a girlfriend is a BAD idea.

It is not a bad idea, but be aware that you may have to pay out of state tuition rates unless you live and work in Florida for a year BEFORE you begin going to college.

Do not make the mistake of thinking you can pay the first year at out-of-state tuition rates, and thereafter you will be charged in-state rates. If you BEGIN as an out-of-state student, you will be charged out-of-state tuition rates for your entire undergraduate career.

Good luck!

In FL, community colleges are closely tied to their companion universities. They do not share the same "stigma" that cc's in other states frequently share. CC is a good idea, economically and to work on your GPA. I say go for it. Time to branch out and start being an adult.
