5C(s)+2SO2(g)-----> CS2(L)+4CO(g)

How many moles of carbon are needed to react with excess sulfur dioxide to produce 34.5 moles of carbon disulfide?

How many moles of carbon disulfide will be produced if 23.5 moles of sulfur dioxide react with excess carbon?

5C + 2SO₂ → CS₂ + 4CO

When 34.5 moles of CS₂ is produced :
To produce 1 mole of CS₂, 5 moles of C is needed.
No. of moles of C needed = 34.5 × 5 = 172.5 mol

When 23.5 moles of SO₂ is produced.
2 moles of SO₂ produces 1 mole of CS₂.
No. of moles of CS₂ produced = 23.5 × (1/2) = 11.75 mol
