The chrysalis is the form taken by an insect during the torpid (a dull ,slow, inactive, not moving, feeling condition)stage of its life
between the time when it creeps, crawls as a larva and the time when it flies as a butterfly.which is the sheath(sheath-like cover of tissue, skin fitting over part of the insect) that covers it during this time.
